On May 27, 2014, in the framework of the main annual event International Navigation Forum and the program of the 8th Russian Specialized Exhibition of Information Technologies for Transport and Transport Infrastructure “Electronica-Transport 2014”, the Conference “Practical Peculiarities of Introducing Navigation and Information Technologies into City Passenger Transport” took place at the All-Russia Exhibition Center in Moscow. 

 The main goal of the conference was to discuss major trends and application areas of navigation and information technologies enhancing the efficiency of city public transport and improving passenger services. The conference participants will tell about plans of developing the city infrastructure for passenger transportation, current issues and the latest achievements in the field of the creation, introduction and operation of automated systems of passenger transport management, new information services for passengers, new approaches to enhancing the efficiency of advertising in transport.

The moderator of the conference was Alexei Gorbachev, Head of the Scientific Research Laboratory “Functional Diagnostics”. In his report on the Automation of Creating Electric Transport Running and Driver’s Work Time-Tables: Domestic and Foreign Experience he ran an analytical and comparative analysis of performance methods both in Russia and overseas (Europe, the USA).  He noted that the traffic management peculiarities in most cities of countries of the former Soviet Union equire the development of specialized software.

In his report on Using DSRC Technologies to Enhance Transportation Efficiency Platon Mironov, Head of OJSC NIS Project, told about issues of transport operations in big city environment that make the ground passenger transport less attractive for passengers and the motorization grow by means of individual vehicles. In Mr. Mironov’s opinion the solution of these issues is a joint use of DSRC and S'n'S bus technologies. He also noted that one could not stop upon achieving technological solutions and should continue increasing technical capacity.
The representatives of SpaceTeam and Detsima delivered speeches on in-vehicle video surveillance systems. The speakers Gennady Gudumak and Vitaly Shishkin told about all advantages of controlling inside and outside environment of a vehicle: enhancing transport safety (accident avoidance, felonies, property damage) and transportation quality (valid analysis and passenger complaint reduction, reduction of incident registration and analysis terms, service improvement and personnel performance automation).

    The conference was attended by representatives of state agencies responsible for the introduction of innovative technologies into city transport facilities, heads and specialists of transport organizations responsible for the development and application of information technology systems, terminal equipment software, mobile apps developers, providers of geo-targeting services, representatives of design and scientific research institutions of the Russian Federation.
