The 21st session of the Council of the Far-Eastern Radio Navigation Service (FERNS) took place in Moscow

On October 22-26, 2012, in Moscow with the support of Professional Conferences there took place the 21st session of the Council of the Far-Eastern Radio Navigation Service (FERNS). The session was attended by delegations of People’s Republic of China, Japan, Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, Great Britain, Norway, and the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA).
 
The session of the Council of the Far-Eastern Radio Navigation Service was held under the chairmanship of the Industry and Trade Ministry of the Russian Federation, the Russian delegation was headed by the Deputy Director of the Radio Electronic Industry Department O. Bryanda. The organization and holding of the session was performed by the Deputy Head of the Russian delegation, the General Director of OJSC “Research Center “Internavigation” V. Tsaryov and the head of the division of the Department of Radio Electronic Industry of the Industry and Trade Ministry of the Russian Federation V. Kuvayev.
 
During the opening of the session the attendees of the Forum were delivered the welcoming address of the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Yu. Slusar. The welcoming address said that the holding of the next session of the Council of FERNS gave the participants an opportunity to discuss constructively the strategic and tactic prospects of the improvement, modernization of radio navigation systems and facilities, to exchange views and opinions on the issues of the introduction of innovative technologies and international cooperation. A confidence was expressed that the session of the Council of FERNS would be held in a constructive and creative atmosphere, and approved recommendations would help to consolidate the scientific-technical potential of countries, integration relations, to use an advanced experience in the practice of the development of radio navigation systems and facilities.
 
The attendees of the session discussed the problems of functioning of united chains and agreed on the next steps to improve and develop the International Far-Eastern Radio Navigation Service, drew up the schedule of planned switching-off of the radio navigation stations being a part of FERNS for 2013 and corrected, according to the propositions from the delegations, the Guidance on operative principles of FERNS station functioning.
 
In conclusion the Council approved the date of holding the 22nd session of the Council of FERNS. It will take place in Republic of Korea on the October of 2013.
